Toronto newspapers quoted a report that Education Minister Janet Ecker may introduce direct bargaining with teachers as early as next month.
What is conservative about bypassing School Boards and centralizing power?

The socialist arguments of "leveling the playing field" and "equalization" are just excuses for going towards homogenization into one public centrally-run system.
Harris is more and more converting Ontario into a statist autocracy.

The Family Coalition Party would go in the opposite direction, recognizing that parents have the responsibility of educating their children and they must retain the choice of how and where to spend their education money.
In addition, a decentralized system with a smaller bureaucracy makes economic sense too.
